ABOUT
John Kim is a Korean-American director and photographer based in Los Angeles, raised between Germany and the Bay Area. His films explore the quiet fractures within family, faith, and identity. Rooted in the belief that no one is inherently evil, only shaped by circumstance, his work searches for emotional and spiritual honesty, often through characters caught in moments of reckoning.
A graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, John has lent his visual language to Republic Records, Columbia Records, and House of Hazard, directing visual campaigns and branded content for artists like ISOKNOCK, Lil Wayne, SiR, Knock 2, Kayzo, and Leon Bridges. His work has screened at NFFTY, LA Shorts International, and the Montreal Independent Film Festival.
He is currently developing Sweet Boy, a short-to-feature film project supported by Federal Films, and continues to build work that invites people into deeper awareness, empathy, and spirit.
